The Story of Returning Home

Theater director Artem Tomilov, who grew up in the marginalized outskirts of Omsk, returns to his hometown after 15 years. He sets out to stage an autofiction performance titled “Artem Tomilov” about himself. Events that unfold during the production become part of the narrative—alongside the myths and spirits from the protagonist’s past and the people of Omsk.

With a tone that is both ironic and elegiac, the film “Artem Tomilov” tells the story of a modern-day Odysseus.
